Good News | Guangxi Ubridge’s “Key Technology and Application of the Two-stage Rusting Method for Preparing High-Quality Synthetic Rutile” Project Won the 3rd Prize of Guangxi Science and Technology Progress Award

Recently, the Guangxi Science and Technology Award Committee announced the 2024 annual award list. The “Key Technology and Application of the Two-stage Rusting Method For Preparing High-Quality Synthetic Rutile” project declared by Guangxi Ubridge New Material Technology Co., Ltd. won the 3rd prize of Guangxi Science and Technology Progress Award.

 

Rutile is one of the 14 strategic reserve minerals that China relies heavily on foreign resources. It is also an important and high-quality raw material for the high-end titanium industry. Due to the scarcity of natural rutile reserves in the earth's crust and the huge market demand, the large-scale preparation of synthetic rutile is of great significance to the development of China's high-end titanium industry.

Through years of research, the Guangxi Ubridge team pioneered the core process of the “two-stage rusting method”. Through innovative processes such as balance control of the two-stage rusting reaction and the bubble micronization-oxygen-enriched enhanced rusting, the quality of synthetic rutile products has been increased to more than 93%, and the productivity has been increased by 30%-50%, achieving large-scale production of synthetic rutile and filling the resource gap in China. This technology has solved China's problem of long-term dependence on imported rutile, and provided strong technical support for the security of national strategic resources and the development of new quality productive forces.

Guangxi Ubridge has now completed the first 200,000 tons/year large-scale production line of synthetic rutile in China. Our product market share in the domestic market has reached 100% for three consecutive years, and our global market share has reached 7.25% in 2023, ranking among the top 5 in the world. The project has been granted a total of 47 patents, and the resulting achievements are widely used in many leading enterprises both at home and abroad.

The Guangxi Science and Technology Award is the highest honor in the field of science and technology in Guangxi.
