At 20:00 on the evening of July 28th, the Labor Union of Guangdong Ubridge New Material Technology Co., Ltd. organized the company's employees to watch the revolutionary history-themed modern Cantonese opera "A Red Heart to the Party".
To enrich the sparetime of the workers, offer guidance of worldview and values, and promote the study of Party history, the revolutionary history-themed modern Cantonese opera “A Red Heart to the Party” was performed on the evening of July 28 in the Haoxin Square of Jingtangpo Village, Gongguan Town, Maonan District. The event was co-hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Maoming Municipal Committee, the Maoming Federation of Trade Unions, and Guangdong Ubridge New Material Technology Co., Ltd., and reorganized and played by the Cantonese Opera Troupe of Gaozhou City.
"A Red Heart to the Party" tells the historical story of Zhu Yechi, a revolutionary martyr of Maoming nationality, who was determined to devote himself to the revolution. He spread Marxism-Leninism and led the South Road Revolution. Eventually, he was pursued by the reactionary authorities and died a heroic death. The opera artistically recreates the glorious life of the martyr Zhu Yechi.
On his way back to Maoming from Guangzhou, Zhu Yechi was surrounded and arrested by Zhou Zhisheng, a reactionary authority. He was fortunate to be rescued by the outlaws on Yadou Mountain, whom he had never met before. He mobilized the Yadou Mountain outlaws to join the revolutionary forces. They jointly attacked the reactionary district office, liberated Huaixiang in one fell swoop, and set up the Huixiang District Soviet Government. When the enemy frantically counterattacked, Zhu Yechi led the rebels to move to Baini Chong to defend themselves against dangers. After a few days of fierce fighting, they shook off the enemy and ventured into the mountains to fight as guerrillas. Later, Zhu Yechi retreated to the French Concession in Guangzhou Bay to continue his revolutionary cause, during which he was arrested for covering his comrades in the Party. In prison, Zhu Yechi never surrendered to the enemy's severe torture and coercion. He wrote the “Poem of Sacrifice” to express his determination to sacrifice for the worker-peasant class with no regrets.
The storyline of “A Red Heart to the Party” was dramatic, and the performance was wonderful and touching. This was the first performance of the 100-performance tour of the “Going to Grassroots, Communities, and Schools” campaign. After the premiere at Sinopec Maoming. More than 300 people, including Guangdong Ubridge staff and Jingtangpo villagers, watched the show. After the performance, leaders from the Publicity Department of the Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Party Committee Federation of Trade Unions, as well as the Chairman of Guangdong Ubridge congratulated the success of the performance and took photos with the actors and actresses.(29 July 2022)
