On April 20, eight large freight vehicles carried the equipment into the South China Titanium Valley project construction site. The first batch of rotary kiln cylinders, which were the core of the South China Titanium Valley project synthetic rutile production line made their official entry. This milestone marked the Ubridge New Material’s development of the nation’s only port-surrounding titanium-zirconium industrial chain—the South China Titanium Valley project—signifying its full entry into the fast-track phase of construction.
Early in the morning, eight 17.5-meter-long heavy-duty trailers entered the site like a winding dragon.
Under the precise command of the construction workers, the first cylinder was hoisted from the trailer by the giant crane boom and set into place with ease.
Ubridge New Material is a Chinese enterprise with the key technology to solve the stranglehold problems and achieve large-scale production of synthetic rutile. The rotary kiln is the core of our whole production process design.
Mr. Li Lvhua, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated, “The key equipment of the project has been successfully delivered to the site. We will make every effort to organize the construction and installation of the project to lay a solid foundation for the production line's early commissioning under the premise of ensuring safety and high efficiency, so as to contribute to the power of Ubridge for the high-quality development of Maoming as early as possible.”
The project team continued to advance the construction progress to ensure that the project would be completed as scheduled for the high-quality development of Maoming.
Project Background and Progress
South China Titanium Valley: The Pearl of the Port-Surrounding Titanium and Zirconium Whole Industry Chain
The South China Titanium Valley project has attracted attention since its inception in 2023. It has been included as one of the provincial key construction projects and provincial major projects. “Accelerate the construction of South China Titanium Valley in Maoming” has also been included in the Guangdong Provincial Government Work Report 2025.
As the only titanium and zirconium industry chain project highly concentrated in the port-surrounding area, the South China Titanium Valley boasts a planned total investment of RMB 18.6 billion. Covering an area of about 200 hectares, the project was divided into two phases and would be constructed in four stages. After completion and commissioning, the project is expected to achieve an annual output value of RMB 51.5 billion, an industrial added value of RMB 14 billion, profits and taxes of RMB 12 billion, and employment of 4,000 people to create a titanium and zirconium industry cluster with an output value of RMB 100 billion for Maoming, strengthening the local manufacturing industry, improving the industrial structure, and accelerating the high-quality development of the city.
Construction Progress: Steady and in Full Swing
At present, the construction of the South China Titanium Valley project is in full swing. Workers on site are working hard with enthusiasm to overcome difficulties to ensure the timely completion of the project.
In the first phase, the initial 1-million-ton titanium and zirconium new material beneficiation project and the 500,000-ton high-end enriched TiO2 material production and supporting facility project are progressing steadily, while the 30,000-ton titanium material project is undergoing preliminary preparatory work. The projects are expected to reach commissioning by stages by the end of this year and the first half of next year.
Industrial Cluster: Extending, Complementing and Strengthening the Industrial Chain for Further Development Together
The South China Titanium Valley project is expected to achieve an annual output value of about RMB 51.5 billion after full completion and commissioning, aiming to create a titanium and zirconium industry cluster with an output value of RMB 100 billion for Maoming by extending, supplementing, and strengthening its titanium and zirconium industrial chains. This will not only promote the manufacturing sector in Maoming and improve the industrial structure, but also accelerate the high-quality development of the local economy.
