On the evening of March 6, the Welcome Dinner of the 2023 Titanium & Zirconium Year-opening Event was held. On the morning of March 7th, the 15th International Titanium and Zirconium Industry Development Summit Forum was officially opened. During the forum, the focused topic discussion session was held as scheduled. The session addresses the current situation of the industry as well as the key difficulties in development, gathering experienced experts and famous enterprises from upstream and downstream of the industry to discuss the current situation of industrial development, seek solutions for the bottlenecks of enterprise development, and explore the road of industrial transformation and upgrading. Mr. Li Lvhua, Chairman of Ubridge, addressed the focused topic “2023 Foreign Trade Market under the Complicated Global Economic Environment” in detail. He believes that the inflation and high interest rates, energy shortage, combined with the Russia-Ukraine war led to the high prices of raw materials in foreign countries. With pandemic control measures lifted and the government's active financial and consumption stimulation policies, China's economy is about to recover strongly. The titanium and zirconium market will be more active than last year, but the price trend of the market needs to be analyzed according to the actual situation. At present, the price of zircon sand is about RMB 15,500/ton, which is on the edge of breaking even. And the demand for titanium ore is quite high, making a substantial price drop in raw materials unlikely in the industry soon. However, the gradual recovery of the market demand will bring new opportunities for enriched TiO2 materials including synthetic rutile.
