Affected by the residual vortex of Typhoon “Haikui”, on September 8 to 11, Maoming City suffered four consecutive days of persistent heavy rainfall. The urban areas suffered flooding that has not been encountered in decades. Low-lying areas of the city were flooded, with villages, houses, and cars being submerged. The water level of Gaozhou Storage Reservoir exceeded the highest warning level in history and was forced to discharge the flood. The raging flood peak of Xiaodongjiang exceeded the warning line by more than 2 meters... The properties and even the lives of the people have been seriously threatened.
It has always been a traditional virtue of China that “when one is in trouble, all parties will come to help”. It has been Ubridge's cultural heritage to bear social responsibility and join in disaster relief wholeheartedly.
At 11:00 a.m. on 11th September, Mr. Li Lvhua, Chairman of Ubridge and Chairman of Maoming Enterprise Confederation, and Mr. Li Yuxuan, Deputy General Manager of Ubridge, came to Gongguan Town Government, one of the hardest-hit areas of the disaster in spite of the rain. They discussed with Mr. Luo Ruzhang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Gongguan Town, about the donations of the disaster relief supplies, and donated 600 pieces of takeout meals and a large batch of instant noodles and mineral water right away to help address the troubles of the disaster-stricken people. Mr. Li Yuxuan said that Ubridge will continue to follow up on the progress of the disaster relief, and will donate a total of RMB 200,000 worth of disaster relief supplies in batches according to the needs of the future.
At 14:30 on the 11th, Deputy General Manager Li Yuxuan of Ubridge and Mr. Ke Meihua, Chairman of Maoming Enterprise Confederation, actively responded to the call of the Maoming Municipal People’s Government and donated RMB 1 million to the Red Cross Society of China Maoming Branch on behalf of Mr. Li Lvhua, Chairman of Ubridge. The fund will be used by the Maoming Emergency Management Bureau for the current flood relief. Mr. Liu Siyuan, Secretary of the Party Group and Executive Vice President of Red Cross Society of China Maoming Branch, Mr. Fan Ligang, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Maoming Emergency Management Bureau, Mr. Zhang Huawen, Member of the Party Group and Secretary General of Red Cross Society Of China Maoming Branch, Mr. Wu Ziwei, Member of the Party Group and Full-time Vice President of Red Cross Society Of China Maoming Branch, and Mr. Lin Boyi, First Grade Director of Maoming Emergency Management Bureau, took part in the donation ceremony.
